Grossly unethical advertising

Have you ever heard of unethical advertising? Well take this example of an ad on msn.com - I suppose side affects like those below could be bad, but I suppose some people also don't care at all.

FDA ALERT [8/2005] Health Canada Announces Return of Adderall to the Canadian Market.

Adderall will return to the Canadian market for the treatment of Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) (see alert of 2/09/05 below). The Canadian Product Monograph will be revised to include warnings about the misuse of Adderall and that Adderall generally should not be used in patients with structural cardiac abnormalities.

FDA ALERT [2/2005] Health Canada Suspends Marketing of Adderall

Health Canada has suspended marketing of Adderall XR products from the Canadian market due to concern about reports of sudden unexplained death (SUD) in children taking Adderall and Adderall XR. SUD has been associated with amphetamine abuse and reported in children with underlying cardiac abnormalities taking recommended doses of amphetamines, including Adderall and Adderall XR. In addition, a very small number of cases of SUD have been reported in children without structural cardiac abnormalities taking Adderall. At this time, FDA cannot conclude that recommended doses of Adderall can cause SUD, but is continuing to carefully evaluate these data.

Target targets real people

This is good.

A few point, it's an ad on their own site for themselves...take that one step further, for another one of their ads - as service. That's pretty good.

You take a chance oppurtunity and get on their site, whether from an ambiguous ad like the one I followed there (number one paid search result on Google for music by the way), wanting something from target or what have you.

Now is coming to our site convenient for you? Maybe not, well in that case, the best deals are delivered to your doorstep weekly, check it out, you'll find it.

It's likely that will do more for them with long term customers buying from that then they will with a direct sales offer on the homepage. What do they lose? The bucks paid for that prime time position, what do they gain? One "gain" is no shipping or online sales administration costs. Their infrastructure has already been well established for years in physical sales, if they utilize their site to put in more long term customers, why not? Does an internet business model have to include on-site POS? That's answered really with, "does a billboard have to have on board POS?"

I like their way of going about things, I feel service.

I actually am not quite sure on this one. What am interested in doing based on this?

I guess if I am cool trendy raving hacker type they feature in movies but am a little too nerdy to be liked I would aspire to a photo like that. But if I'm the real usual programmer who probably looks more conservative than a Volvo, it's likely I think that weird.

I'll see if I can't find the target audience and ask them about it.

We can handle that

This add hits a humerous button, a niche market almost in this.

Why don't you use a Mac?
I like Microsoft office.

Wouldn't necissarily expect it to be such a big concern but it truthfully is. Have you tried using OpenOffice in the X11 on OS X? It's a difficult task, it really just doesn't go with the flow. And it's hard to get running, not very intuitive at all. And when I say not intuitive, I generally use the terminal more than Finder out of preference, while it will vary from person to person I really mean really not intuitive bordering completely unusable. When they have a more native like version it will probably be fine.

The Office for Mac operates relatively well, while the version I have certainly has it's occasional faults, they are few and far between.

So backing up from the technical standpoint, it really smoothes over a concern of usability involved with the use of a Mac for this function. It takes out the outcastness of the Mac as compared to PC in this wise. Good ad.

Toast advertising?

I've been harping on this at every oppurtunity I've gotten but I think it could bear some more harp.

The future of diner advertising. To ensure that no one but the blind can avoid an ad, I unveil to you technology applied to marketing: toast advertising.

This will put the branding of choice on to the toast. Do to it's digital burning techniques it could even be a live broadcast ad burned. It's the toast of the future.

The joys of targeted(?) advertising

I noticed this when looking up six-party talks today and thought it was odd enough to share.

While I have recieved a number of well targeted advertisements from ansewrs in the past, this one stood out for me.

Sure I was looking for something related to politics and nuclear weaponry, so the atleast the Robone figure is likely to be on topic.

The talking Party Stewie. Well, it is six-party talk.

What about flatware for your party? We have this covered.

And the cooler for your six pack? Oh, it's good thing it's there, I would have forgot the bear entirely, I know I can't make it through one of those meetings without 3 cans atleast.

Took me a while to see the true relation, but answers is "spot on" again.

GoogleTube

Words goin' round that Google might gobble up YouTube.

While profit earnings for YouTube have not yet borne the overall cost of operation, the potential for profit under a correct advertising plan could work out.

Keep an ear out, could be a good deal.

Ads to make a difference

Human Right #1
We Are All Born Free & Equal

This not your run of the mill ad. These are the eyes of a public service announcement (PSA). This is one a 30 PSA series, each visual piece being one of the 30 articles of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, adopted by the United Nations in 1948 but employed not actively employed in any of the nations.

This first one is the first in the series and as noted above it is on the subject - We Are All Born Free & Equal.

They definitely communicate their message, and believe "sell" their product very well, but it wolud be to the benefit of everyone to see these PSAs and find others to watch them as well, it's ita product this whole world could be involved in.

Pretty advertising ambiguity.

NXP- I don't know what it's about really but I like it.

It has cool graphic appeal, gives the standing on the foot of the some beast with a neat ribbon thing... OK, I don't know what in tarnation this is about really, so the communication is really one of those looking to conquer the world, "you're on top of it all" kind of things. What that has to do with anything, I don't have a clue.

If it's a tangible product... questionable.

If it's a school, good at ya mate. I'll be attending.

Interstitial Advertising

Advertising that happens in between where you came from and where you want to go. That's right, a commercial on the net kinda'.

The idea is that you while trying to get somewhere get huge ad consuming the whole screen (roughly) then get redirected off of that to your intended destination. If the man who invented this term has been found he has been beaten many times over, threats is generally what I see as the context when I see mentions of this type of advertising.

But regardless of all of that, I really dug this one.

Excellent style that pulls really pulls you in, I don't know what they're selling by seeing it necissarily, but it's likely THX style branding. I don't know what THX did or had to do with anything but they branded me for sure, I had more hope with their products even though their work was not correlated in my mind with any quality or product.

You don't care what they're doing but you'll by where their name is.

A Golden Age of Knowledge

Is that not gorgeous?

This is an incredible address, it's not mere "advertising." In a way saying it were just advertising would be cutting it down considerably. It is an excellent example of a product that is really meant for the consumer, it's 'added value' to the extreme. The presentation l. I would suggest going from the first page of this and going on through to the end. The address was given Mr. Davd Miscavige, there a number of his presentations also availabe, these are in, available at davidmiscavige.rtc.org.
